Catching Up
Sorry about the lack of posts. Ok I'm not really sorry but I felt the need to say that anyway. I guess my posting is quite often inversely proportional to WoW. TBC has been delayed until January so I guess there is plenty more time for blogging.
In this week's roundup there is no change in the predictions for the US mid-terms with the markets expecting a Democratic House and a Republican Senate. I've expanded out my list of competitive states to:
Missouri
New Jersey
Virginia
Tennessee
Montana
Maryland
The Dems need 5 of these 6 states to wrest control of the senate. I think it's unlikely, but not impossible (I give them about a 20% chance).
I don't think I've mentioned that I now have my Lord of the Rings CD collection. A great purchase, although the more I listen to it the more I realise how much Howard Shore recycles themes. I've decided he's good, but he's not John Williams.
I also haven't mentioned the follow up from a story I brought up a couple of weeks ago at my son's birthday. Remember the older boy who was left at my son's party? Well it turns out these particular parents have decided it's the way to go.
A week after our party the same girl my son invited was invited to an all-girl party for pre-primary children. Once again the parents turned up with their pre-primary girl and her older brother. They asked the parents of the birthday girl if he could stay and told them "He would get upset if he couldn't go".
An older, uninvited, trouble maker boy at an all pre-primary girl party. Yep that's a good idea. So while I'm astonished at these parents I feel sorry for the younger sister. The way things are going she's going to find the invites are drying up.

I think it will be a Democratic win in the congress, but I don't think you will be able to describe it as a landslide. The average swing against an administration in the 6th year is huge (something like 30 seats from memory).
The Democrats might even underperform this long term average.
Mmmmm Bard's Tale. Fondest memories.
