The Dom Returns

I'm back.

I've been away to Alice Springs and Singapore. Now I return to resume my blogging duties. Probably the biggest surprises of the week were:

(1) Singapore only has 4.3 million people. I've been there 3 times and always had the impression it was far bigger - perhaps it's just an impression you get when you ride the MRT. Note that all the people in Singapore I talked to put it between 3 and 4 million.

(2) Australia has a higher per capita GDP than Singapore. This again I find surprising, and given the cost of living in Oz is lower as well, I've given up my plans to move to a lower tax haven.

Fake Turkey, Turns out was not Fake

Remember all the fake turkey gags that began last year on Thanksgiving when the US president visited Baghdad. It turns out the turkey wasn't fake. While I've known this tale was incorrect for some time, the New York Times (who originally broke the news) published a correction just this week - eight months after they were the first to publish it.

I wonder if all the other media sources that subsequently ran the story will also run corrections?
