Trend Continues

Coalition $1.30
Labor $3.20

Not looking good for a bidding war for votes either.

I seriously doubt this was timed to coincide with our elections, which were only announced a couple of weeks ago. These types of operations don't just occur overnight.

Both parties calling the campaign to a halt (cynics view - they can focus now on the 'debate' on Sunday).

Back to politics:
John Anderson called the Greens watermelons, a haven for pinkos. Greens cry cucumber! Thing is, I see no evidence that the deputy PM was wrong.

Updated Odds

Coalition $1.33
Labor $3

With today's bombing in Jakarta Labor's odds have jumped out dramatically.
Who gets hurt by this? Indonesians do, civilians and the economy.

With the debate (although it doesn't sound like it's actually going to be a debate to me, thanks to Liberal party strategists) coming up on Sunday we're bound to have more questions on National security than we would have had otherwise.

This plays into the current governments strength.

I've been looking through the Labor tax release policy and it has some good ideas in it. I was hoping that the Libs would be forced to counter with a better offer. Unfortunately this event might change the dynamics of the election.

Election Odds

http://www.centrebet.com/australian-federal-election-2004.php

Coalition $1.45
Labor $2.60

Bush $1.50
Kerry $2.40

Will be interesting to check back in a week's time and see if there is any movement.

Interesting, though not how I read it. I'm thinking Bush is far more of a certainty to be returned than Howard.

If the favourites win I wonder how many more people will jump in a boat and row for Indonesia?
